COLLECTIVE MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION (CMO)
MUSIC RIGHT (SARAWAK) BERHAD (MRSB) is a not-for-profit Collective Management Organization (CMO).
It represents all Malaysian music industry artists especially in Sarawak on behalf of local ethnic song creators. Members who hand over the mandate to MRSB to control their royalty rights in Sarawak will benefit from it. MRSB role would involve the administration, protection, and promotion of the rights of music creators and performers in Sarawak.
On 5 November 2021, MRSB was granted a certificate of declaration as a licensing body by the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia ("MyIPO"), pursuant to the Copyright Act (Licensing Body) Regulations 2021, which enables MRSB to operate as a CMO in Malaysia.
Armada Anak Seni Sarawak Association (ARAS) has established Music Right (Sarawak) Berhad (MRSB) on 28th September 2020.
MRSB is established as a separate entity that focuses on the collection of music royalties and the issuance of licenses for the use of music in the general public specifically in the Sarawak Region.
The scope of royalty collection is only on Sarawak's local ethnic songs such as Iban, Bidayuh, Melanau, Kayan, Kenyah, Lunbawang, Salako and others.
